Chemical laboratory assistant (m/f)

Chemical laboratory assistants must work very precisely and reliably because their work must guarantee the greatest possible safety and comprehensive environmental protection. The chemical laboratory assistant occupation primarily comprises activities in the area of research and development, especially the search for new fertilisers, improved fertilisers, or production optimisations. The work places of a chemical laboratory assistant generally include laboratories or technical schools because these facilities enable the preparation, performance and evaluation of chemical testing series.

Prerequisites

  • G.C.E. O-level with good grades in natural sciences
  • Understanding and interest for chemical, physical and technical processes.
  • Practical skill and logical intellectual capacity, good observation skills and ability to express yourself verbally and in writing.
  • Sense of responsibility, reliability and the ability to work in a team.

Training areas

  • Physical-chemical testing and measurement methods
  • Preparative, inorganic and organic chemistry
  • Documentation of working procedures and results
  • Quality assurance, occupational safety and environmental protection

Occupational training

  • Basic laboratory training in a teaching laboratory
  • On-site training in various laboratories

Duration of training

  • 3 ½ years
