Chemical technician (m/f)

Chemical technicians observe, control and correct production sequences. They take samples, perform the chemical and physical tests required for production, calculate the composition of mixtures and document working procedures and results.
For production reasons, many chemical plants run round the clock – for this reason, this occupation often entails work in shifts

Prerequisites

  • Secondary school certificate
  • Interest in natural sciences
  • Technical and physical understanding
  • Ability to work in cross-departmental teams

Training areas

  • Acquisition of basic knowledge for use in chemical-technical production
  • Preparation, performance and control of safety and environmentally sound production sequences within the scope of the existing regulations in cooperation with all organisations involved
  • Execution of activities in workshops and laboratories. Chemical and physical working procedures and methods.
  • Process engineering and information technology
  • Quality assurance, occupational safety and environmental protection

Duration of training

  • 3 ½ years
