Piesteritz has been a traditional industrial location at the heart of Europe (200 hectares) since 1915. SKW Piesteritz, Germany’s largest producer of ammonia and urea, currently offers more than 30 hectares of vacant, developed industrial land with excellent opportunities for new settlers.

Partners for our location are selected carefully in order to ensure a homogenous neighbourhood for both you and us that offers maximum synergies. The Austrian company Agrolinz has confirmed the attraction of the location with a major investment in excess of 100 million EUR. Piesteritz was chosen as the preferred location in a Europe-wide search. The new melamine facilities were officially opened in May 2005.

In addition, Europe’s largest bio-diesel plant, including oil mill, was commissioned by Neckarmann Renewables Wittenberg on 15.06.2007 following a total investment of 85 million EUR. In June 2007, the Leipzig Public Works Authority began construction work on one of the world’s most modern biomass power stations

The Piesteritz Protein Plant is yet another investor to have chosen Piesteritz as a base for its operations. The intention here is to manufacture proteins from the rape cake resulting in conjunction with the bio-diesel plant. The notarised site contracts have already been concluded. Further projects are currently being prepared.
