Chemically, AdBlue® is a highly pure urea solution made from raw materials of the highest purity. The stringent quality demands are assured according to DIN 70070. SKW Piesteritz played a decisive role in the creation of this standard. The DIN publication can be obtained from Beuth Verlag GmbH, 10772 Berlin.
The update of DIN 70070, namely ISO 22241, is already in preparation.
Our product specification is completely compliant with DIN 70070. A comprehensive quality management system guarantees compliance with each individual quality characteristic.
Furthermore, we and our partners also operate in accordance with the "Quality Guideline AUS 32" published by CEFIC. This contains rules for dealing with AdBlue® that ensure a continuous compliance of the quality from production to distribution to the final customer.
Under optimum storage conditions, the AdBlue® manufactured by SKW Piesteritz has a shelf-life of at least 1 year.
Optimum storage conditions are storage temperatures between -5 to +25 °C in closed containers. AdBlue® crystallises at –11 °C. It can decompose above 30 °C due to hydrolysis. Direct exposure to UV radiation must be avoided.
It is imperative that AdBlue® does not come into contact with copper and zinc and their alloys as well as with aluminium. Stainless steels and most plastics do not cause problems.
In case of uncertainties with regard to the selection of materials, we are happy to advise you on the basis of our experience.
