Management and Structure

Carsten Franzke has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH as Chairman of the Management Board since July 2026. He has been a member of the Management Board as Chief Operating Officer (COO) since February 2009 and now holds a dual position within the management team.

Carsten Franzke is someone who learned the ropes from the bottom up at the nitrogen plant. He began his apprenticeship as a maintenance mechanic in 1982 with his high school diploma. He then completed an apprenticeship as an technical sales representative and later studied at the Berlin School of Economics.
From 1995 to 1998, he held the role of managing director at Agrochemie Handelsgesellschaft mbH in Berlin, which is now AGROFERT Deutschland GmbH. As managing director of Borealis Agrolinz Melamine Deutschland GmbH in Lutherstadt Wittenberg from 1999 to 2005, he supported the setting up and establishment of the company in the Agro-Chemie Park. He held the role of central divisional manager for finance and controlling at SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH from 2000 to 2009.

Mr. Franzke was a member of the Supervisory Board of Lieken GmbH from 2013 to 2020. Since 2023, he has been Deputy Chairman of the Federal Commission for Environmental and Climate Policy of the Economic Council (Wirtschaftsrat), and since December 2025, he has also been a member of the Executive Board of the Economic Council's Saxony-Anhalt regional association. In addition to being a member of the Energy Committee of the German Chemical Industry Association (Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V., VCI), Carsten Franzke has held a board position at VCI Northeast since 2024 to actively represent the economic policy interests of the chemical industry in Saxony-Anhalt. Since January 1, 2025, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of IKB Deutsche Industriebank AG. On July 1, 2025, Carsten Franzke was appointed to the Executive Board of Forum Rathenau e.V..

The avid sportsman and pop music lover was born on 27 November 1965. He has one child.

Torsten Klett has many years of management experience in various industrial companies. After holding posts in the power generation division of the E.ON Group including head of operative controlling and in the controlling department at Q.Cells SE (now Hanwha Q.Cells GmbH) among others, he took over the management of the central finance/controlling and IT division at SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH in 2013. 

Torsten Klett was born on 16 December 1970 in Halle (Saale). He is married with two children.
